All of us were made to be servants of God. We were all made uniquely, designed solely for the purposes that God thought up for us. Ephesians 2:10 says:
“For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

I really enjoy watching antiques programmes. What I love about what I see on the TV is the moment where the expert says, “In all the years I have been studying this period, I have never seen one of these.”

We really need to get hold of the fact that we are not a factory-made assembly line product, mass reproduced and worth little. We are God's hand-made, hand-crafted works of art - not just limited edition - but totally priceless. When we understand this properly, we are more willing to go where God goes, trusting that He knows what He is doing.

God is not wasteful with what He creates. He doesn't give us talents, skills, attitudes, passions and abilities that have no purpose. He delights in giving us all the resources that we need to equip us for the tasks ahead. Have you ever wondered why you are so excited about certain things that other people pass by? It should give you a clue as to what sort of passions God has given you to use for Him.

There is an old saying “Where the Lord beckons, He will also bestow.” In other words, where He calls us, He will also supply us. He never asks us to serve Him in ways in which we are incapable.

When we serve well, we serve with a sense of priority and motivation in our hearts. Our work brings us satisfaction and contentment. A servant of God is one who has the immense privilege of ‘dethroning himself' and putting God in the director's chair.

The hallmark of a real servant of God is not someone down trodden and ‘door mat like' but someone who is on fire, faithful in what she does. (1 Corinthians 4:2)

In this session, pray that some of the excitement of service to God gets across to the children, and that far from seeing it as a duty, they will see it as a joy- as something in fact that they were made for.
