Trust is such a fragile thing- it can be won and lost in an instant. Yet, it is also an incredibly powerful thing when someone places his or her trust in you. Jesus calls us to be people who can be trusted in all circumstances and throughout the Bible we are told that our Father in Heaven is a God we can trust.

In contrast to this, we live in a society where trust is a rarity! Trust seems to be broken so quickly, yet we are urged to trust in people all the time…with our money, mortgages, health etc… Footballers break contracts, celebrity marriages break up everyday in the papers and our country's leaders are being investigated in inquiry after inquiry…

How can we communicate to our young people that trust is still worth seeking after? Hopefully this session will go some way to helping you and your group discuss this and discover some truth about trust…

The session breaks into two areas- discovering how we are called to be people of trust and discovering how God calls us to trust in Him. You may want to decide which area will best suit your group although you could cover both areas in one session!

Jesus' challenge to let our “Yes be Yes and No be No” is such an incredibly hard thing to follow through. The growth of reality TV and shows like Big Brother show us that people love to be deceitful. It's become the norm in our society. Maybe even in your youth group and church you can see people talking behind other peoples' backs one minute, and then smiling sweetly the next. Yet Jesus calls us, and our young people, to be deliberately different. Whilst putting this together, I challenged myself to live this out- always a dangerous thing! Maybe, before you try this session, you could give it go too. Have a week focused on letting your “yes be yes!” See what a difference it makes…

Please be careful with using the CD clips suggested in this session, as some groups may object to using Limp Bizkit.
